Nestled in Carnwath, in the heart of the South Lanarkshire countryside, Lodge Lockhart St. John, number 248 as she appears in the roll of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, has made Freemasonry part of the local community since 1812.
The lodge is situated at 1 Biggar Road, Carnwath on the first floor and is accessed by way of a winding staircase on the west side of the building. The meetings are held at 7.30 pm on the second and fourth Thursday of the months from September to May.
Lodge Lockhart St.John falls under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Lanarkshire Upper Ward, which, in turn, is responsible to the Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of Scotland whose headquarters are in Freemasons' Hall, George Street, Edinburgh.
The Province of Lanarkshire Upper Ward now consists of 15 Lodges. These are :-
